What is a Unites States Passport?
A United States Passport is a travel document that is internationally recognized validating the identity and nationality of the bearer. It allows the bearer to travel to and into the territories of foreign governments and offers them lawful aid and protection.

Who can issue a Unites States Passport?
Passport Agents from the Department of State and the Passport Services Agency are granted authority by the U.S. Secretary of State to grant, issue or verify United States Passports. ACE Passport Services acts as a "middle man" between you and the Passport Services Agency to help you obtain your passport in an expedited time period. It takes time to get your passport back once you submit it to the agency. We work with the governemnt to expedite the handling of your passport!!!
Why would I need my passport expedited?
If you need to guarantee that your passport will be in your hands in time then you are a perfect candidate. Other good candidates are individuals who suddenly had to travel overseas or who were given little notice they needed a passport. It can take from 6 to 8 weeks to obtain your passport from the State Passport Agency. Holidays take even longer. There is no guarantee of the arrival date of your passport if you do not expedite it.
Where can I get a passport application?
You can get a United States Passport Application at your local Post Office or County Courthouse, where you can also find your local Acceptance Agent. Also, you can download it online at the State Travel Agencies Web-Site. Click HERE to find a list of locations where you can apply for a passport.
What is an Acceptance Agent or Acceptance Facility?
An Acceptance Agent is someone authorized by the U.S. Government to witness the signing of your DS-11 or DS-3053 Applications and perform its execution. Acceptance Agents are located inside Post Offices and County Courthouses. Click HERE for a list of Acceptance Agents in your area.
What would prevent me from obtaining a passport?
You cannot get your passport if you owe more than $2500 in back child support payments or your case is registered with HHS. Also, if you are wanted by federal authorites or are on county/state probation or parole, you may be declined.
Does my child need a passport to travel with me?
Yes, all children regardless of age need a passport to travel. Even newborns and infants need passports.
Do both parents need to be present to obtain a passport for a child?
As of July 2, 2001, passport applications for children under age 14 require both parents or legal guardians consent for a Childrens passport. You can find out more about the rules regarding Parental Consent Requirements by going to "Section E" in the Childrens Passport section.
Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico or Canada?
Yes, you do need a passport for all AIR travel to Mexico and Canada. This law was effective January 23, 2007. Land or sea travel doesn't require a passport but it is a good idea to have a good form of Idnetification such as a Birth Certificate and Drivers License.
What if I do not have a copy of my Birth Certificate?
It is a good idea to have a Birth Certificate. If you cant find yours, you may need to call the Office of Vital Records to get a copy of your Birth Certificate.
What if I am a Naturalized Citizen?
When applying for a passport, your original Naturalization certificate must accompany your application.
How long is a Passport valid?
A United States Passport is valid for 10 years if you were older than 16 years old when it was issued. If you were younger than 15 years old when your passport was issued, then your passport is valid for only 5 years. Your passport can be renewed if you were older than 16 when it was issued. It cannot be renewed if you were younger than 15 when it was issued
